JAMES HERON
My personal fascination with architecture originates in the relationship between people and place, how occupants interact with a space and how that space interacts with its environment. I was originally drawn to architecture through my love of design, problem-solving, and a desire to understand why rooms, buildings, and cities are the way that they are. Through personal, work and university experiences, I have since been exposed to a range of architectural fields, theories, and practices and found a passion for creating beautiful, enduring architecture that follows evidence-based design principles. While I love the creative design process, I have found that my favourite university projects have been those guided by a clear response to site via practical spatial planning combined with an in-depth review of user needs and research across multiple fields. I am increasingly interested in how architecture can add enduring value, create legacy and benefit the environment over the lifetime of a building.
Below are a few of my favourite university and high-school projects that I think demonstrate the progression of my skills, knowledge and passion for architecture.
